Potential dangers whilst taking photographs:

  • Wires from the the lighting may be a potential trip threat. In order to prevent this I will duct tape the wires in a safe place away from the way both myself and the model are walking.
  • Wires that are plugged in could be a fire hazard and must be kept in a safe environment and far from other materials that may cause over heating or a fire. I must also check that all the wires are not frayed at all.
  • The model that I am photographing may get over heated due to the temperature of the lighting in the studio I will be taking photographs in. I will make sure there are bottles of water so both myself and the model stay hydrated.
  • Another potential dangers are the water bottles near electricity and in order to make sure they do not collide I will keep them on the opposite side of the room with the lids shut tight in a box on a table where they are not a hazard.

Photographs

We took portrait pictures of students from just below their shoulders and up to be the cover of our student magazine . We took them in good natural lighting and produced high quality pictures and then selected our favourite for the cover.

‘UCAS application: Is yours good enough?’
‘Improve your CV’
‘Film and Music reviews’
‘Latest Sport’

Key Influences

Some of the key research findings that will influence our magazine are:
  • ·         The use of the fonts as they’re both formal and youthful, making use of both serif and sans serif.
  • ·         The bright colours against the neutral background because it connotes warmth and we like the welcoming and friendly feel it gives.
  • ·         The layout, with writing and pictures set apart in boxes rather than columns as this makes the magazine seem more fun.

Audience Profile

The readers of the Worcester Sixth Form student magazine will be 16-19 year old, E-D, aspirers who's social values are to be hedonists.
They are the sort of people who will be looking for a successful job but in the mean time must become lower grade workers and this magazine is to persuade the reader to gain more from college life. We will show available job vacancies in the local area so student have easy access to finding a job that is suited for them in a personal way.
Socialising with other people is another important factor of being in Worcester Sixth Form and so in order to be up to date with not only what is going on outside of college and around the city or the country or even globally we aim to be in touch with student from the college and gain their feedback on the magazine. Through the latest sports update and news on what is going on in the media a variety of students can read this and enjoy the content
Most student magazines have pages for teachers to be involved in the student life too by talking about how they have gained success with students in their area of expertise. This way the college in whole is a part of the magazine and not just the students that put it together. This represents the team work and unity shown throughout the college.
Finally every student that will read this magazine can relate to what they are reading and will gain information that is much needed at this time in their education.

College magazine research

This is an example college magazine of King Edward VI college in Stourbridge. On the cover, there isn't a splash, however there are five cover lines about things both in and out of college. The cover image bleeds to the edge of the page, and the image connotes a relaxed feel as the girl has her chin resting on her hand. This connotes that the college has a friendly atmosphere and isn't stressful. The cover line font is serif yet is slightly curvy, connoting the formal yet youthful feel. The font beneath the titles is sans serif.

This is the contents page of King Ed's magazine. It has a clear layout yet is aesthetically pleasing.  The 'a word from your editor' connotes formality, yet the font of the contents connotes a more youthful feel, creating a balance between the two. The bright colours against the neutral background connotes warmth as the colours themselves are associated with warmth.
